Crochet your very own Navi fairy from the Legend of Zelda with this free amigurumi pattern. The following pattern details how to crochet Navi step by step. This pattern is very beginner-friendly, so as long as you have a basic understanding of crochet, you can crochet your very own Navi Fairy.

I love making crochet and knit patterns based on video games, but Navi has to be one of my favorites so far. I’ll admit that I don’t play Zelda games; I know I need to give them a try. I’m not a huge video game player, but my husband is, so I love making him different crochet and knit patterns inspired by the games he loves. It can be really challenging to capture the spirit of a video game character using just yarn, but I love the challenge. It’s always so rewarding when I can make a character he recognizes from his games.

My husband loves all of the Legend of Zelda games, but his favorite is Ocarina of Time. While I was watching him play one night, I realized how easy Navi would be to crochet. She’s just a ball with wings. Some video game characters are very complicated to make, but Navi turned out to be even easier than I thought.

Because Navi is just a ball with wings, she makes the perfect beginner amigurumi project. You don’t need any advanced amigurumi techniques to complete this pattern. The body is made using a traditional method of increases to create a circle. This is a very basic technique, and just about every amigurumi pattern you find will use this method. The wings are just circles folded in half. Again, most amigurumi patterns call for this technique.

Once you have a fundamental understanding of Amigurumi, Navi is the perfect amigurumi project to tackle. It even makes an excellent first amigurumi project because of the basic techniques mentioned above. Plus, you’ll end up with an adorable fairy to add to your Zelda collection.

I crocheted my Navi in traditional colors with a blue body and white wings to closely resemble Navi from Ocarina of Time. You can also make the body yellow to represent Tatl from Majora’s Mask. Or, pick a completely different color for your fairy to truly customize this pattern. The Navi amigurumi pattern is so easy to complete that you can quickly make several different fairies in various colors.

Even if you’re like me and don’t play Zelda games, I’m sure you know someone in your life who does. Finding gift ideas for video game players around the holidays can be challenging. A handmade crocheted Navi would make the perfect gift. I’ve made my husband a lot of very intricate crochet and knit things, but I honestly think this Navi is one of his favorites. It sits proudly under the TV next to his gaming consoles, and he was so excited when I gave it to him. It’s funny how sometimes the easiest crochet patterns make for the best gifts!

Continue scrolling down this page to find the free crochet Navi pattern. Follow the pattern step by step to create your very own Navi. I would love to see how your Navi turns out. I can’t wait to see all of the colors everyone chooses to use for their fairies! If you share your completed Navi, please tag me on Instagram @thecrafteemanatee so I can admire your work!

More Video Game Inspired Patterns

Navi is not my only pattern inspired by video games. As mentioned above, I love making my husband gifts based on different video games. Navi is one of my favorites, but I also have more, including a Skyrim scarf (this is my all-time favorite pattern) and the starter Pokémon from Violet/Scarlet.

Syrim Scarf - Stranded Colorwork Knitting Pattern

This Skyrim Scarf is my favorite pattern I have made so far, and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to top it. The scarf includes the designs for each of the holds in the game, plus the main logo. The back of the scarf features a dragon scale print, so it’s also reversible. If you are familiar with stranded colorwork knitting and love Skyrim, make sure to check out this pattern.

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet Starters - Crochet Amirgumi Pattern

The Pokémon Violet/Scarlet starter set is another crochet pattern I have based on a video game. I’ll admit that this pattern was more for me than for my husband. Pokémon is one of the video games that I love to play. This pattern features all three of the starting Pokémon for Scarlet/Violet and includes a Pokeball storage case to display your favorite starter!
