Knitting doesn't have to stop in the summer. You don't have to put down your knitting needles just because the weather is warming up outside. Obviously, the need for warm weather clothes decreases in the summer, and no one wants to be covered in a pound of thick yarn while it's sunny outside. Luckily, there are still fun knitting patterns to enjoy in the summer. In fact, this Summer Daisy Cup Cozy is made with summer in mind.
I designed the Summer Daisy Cup Cozy with hot summer days in mind. You can use any two colors of yarn for this cup cozy to customize it to your personal taste. I chose to use bright yellow yarn and white yarn. The yellow reminds me of the sun on bright summer days, and the white flowers symbolize all the beautiful plants blooming in the summer. The combination of yellow and white yarn makes this cup cozy very bright and cheerful! It will make the perfect addition to your summer drinkwear!
Cup cozies make the perfect summer knitting projects. Sure, cup cozies are great in the winter to hold coffee cups, but they're also great for holding cold summer beverages. Plus, the summery design of the Summer Daisy Cup Cozy adds a bright touch to all of your summer drinks.
Cup cozies use a lot less yarn than sweaters or scarves, so you won't be sitting under a big pile of yarn while it's super hot outside. The cup cozy is tiny, so you won't overheat trying to knit this summer! The small size of the cup cozy also makes it a perfect quick knitting project to work on between all of your fun summer activities!
The Summer Daisy Cup Cozy is a Fair Isle knit pattern. Fair Isle knitting, or colorwork knitting, offers endless opportunities for creative patterns. I love playing around with Fair Isle color charts and drawing up whatever pops into my head. Drawing up colorwork knitting charts is one of my favorite things about designing patterns!
Fair Isle knitting uses two strands of yarn simultaneously to create a design. The attached colorwork charts show you which yarn color to use for each stitch. The other strand of yarn is carried out of sight behind the work.
Finding summer knitting patterns can be tricky. Most people don't want to knit full sweaters or scarves in the summer, but this knit cup cozy is perfect for summer knitting. The Summer Daisy colorwork collection was inspired by bright summer days when flowers are in full bloom, and the collection offers wonderful summer knitting patterns. The Summer Daisy collection also contains a headband, scrunchy, baby headband, and bow. You can save on the entire collection by purchasing the complete bundle through the link above.

Summer Daisy Colorwork Charts
Use either of the charts below to complete the pattern.
I recommend using the repeat chart because it is easier to see, but you can also use the larger chart if it works better for you.
Repeat Chart
Cast on 40 stitches using yellow yarn and join in the round.
Repeat columns 1-20 two times each round to equal the 40 stitch cast-on length.
Continue working in rounds following the chart through row 10.
Each row marks the beginning of a new round.
Repeat rows 1-10 four more times to equal 50 rows in total.
Complete Chart
Cast on 40 stitches using yellow yarn and join in the round.
Work in rounds following the chart. Each row marks the beginning of a new round.
