crochet cat coaster in black yarn

You've come to the right place if you're looking for easy crochet patterns. This crochet coaster is very easy to complete. The center of the crochet cat is just a basic circle crocheted in the round. The ears and tail are worked all in one row around the circle to create the cute cat shape. It's an easy crochet cat pattern that anyone can follow!

I love crochet patterns that look complicated and detailed but are actually super easy. This crochet cat coaster is exactly that! The ears and the tail make it look complex, and the reverse single crochet border makes it look extra detailed. While this crochet pattern might look complicated, it's really not. The body is worked in a simple circle. If you've ever crocheted amigurumi before, then you are already familiar with crocheting circles using increases. Then, the ears and tail are added on in the round, making this a completely no-sew crochet pattern!

The crochet cat coaster is a playground for various crochet stitches. None of them are overly complicated, but you should be familiar with basic crochet techniques and stitches. All stitch terminology in this pattern is US terms. The body is worked in single crochet, the most common crochet stitch, and the border is worked in a reverse single crochet stitch. I enjoy adding the reverse single crochet stitch to borders because it creates a pretty raised border, a lovely finishing touch. This pattern also calls for double crochet stitches for the ears, and picots for the ear points. A picot is a chain 3, and slip stitch back into the first chain. It creates a little point, perfect for the cat ears. If you're eager to try out new stitches, then the crochet cat coaster is the perfect free crochet pattern for you to embark on a new crochet adventure!

While the cat coaster pattern is a great home décor piece year-round, it's especially great for Halloween. I love making Halloween crochet patterns to decorate during the holidays, and this crochet cat coaster is a staple in my Halloween décor. I made my cat coaster using black yarn to fit the Halloween theme, but you can use any color. If you have a cat at home, you can even try to match the yarn colors to your fur baby!
