Save When You Buy The Bow Bundle

I'm a sucker for cow print, so of course, this is my favorite bow out of all of my collections. I understand entirely if cow print isn't your style. It's a bold print and isn't for everyone. I have five other colorwork bow patterns available, so something will suit your style. I have a Bow Bundle available on Ribblr, so you can pick up all of my bow patterns at a reduced price!

The Heart-Print bow is simple yet stunning. It's perfect for Valentine's Day gifts or any occasion to show your love.

The Summer Daisy bow is a bright and bold choice. I worked the bow in yellow yarn with white flowers, but you can choose any color yarn to suit your preferences.

The Simple Speckle Bow is great for beginners. It features a very simple repeat, but it is so beautiful that no one will know that it's very easy to make!

The Spring Chevron bow features chevron stripes that can be customized to any color pallet. I chose to work mine in spring colors, but you can substitute any colors to make it your own.

The Leopard Print bow is perfect for animal print lovers. If cow print isn't your style, maybe leopard print is. This bow is an excellent mix of a bold pattern with muted tones, which makes it the best of both worlds.

With so many different bows to choose from, the Bow Bundle on Ribblr is sure to have something that appeals to you!

About The Cow Bow

As I already mentioned, I love all things cow print. I just really love cows! So, this cow print bow is something that I knew I needed to turn into a pattern. I love how the cow print adds a bold statement to this bow, but the black and white neutral colors make it wearable with many different outfits. You can switch out the yarn colors to customize this bow to your style. You can use brown instead of black for a brown cow effect or completely different colors to mix things up!

This cow print bow can be worn in several different ways. You can knit it for a child in your life as a baby bow or baby bow tie. The bow also looks adorable in adults' hair as a knit accessory. However you choose to style this cow print bow, it will look stunning.

The cow bow pattern is very easy to follow. If you are new to knit colorwork, just take it one step at a time. Focus on the colorwork chart and simply knit each stitch in the color that is presented on the chart. The cow print colorwork chart is simple to follow. There are a lot of color changes, and it isn't a short repeat because of the abstract nature of cow print. However, it is still a pretty easy pattern to understand. Make sure to catch your floats regularly to avoid long strands of yarn along the back that can affect the tension of the project.

Turning the colorwork rectangle into a bow is also very simple. I have step-by-step instructions below that will help you with this. You'll simply pinch the rectangle in the middle to make a bow shape and then wrap yarn around the center. You can then choose whether to attach the bow to a ponytail or leave it on its own.

Cow Print Hair Bow: Fair Isle Knitting Pattern

Follow the step-by-step knitting pattern below to learn how to knit your very own colorwork knitting bow.

Tips

Use either of the attached charts to complete this project.

Keep tension consistent and not too tight.

Manage floats to help keep tension loose.

The bow can be attached to anything (elastic hair tie, headband, dog collar, etc.)

Materials

Any worsted weight yarn in white and back. I used Caron Simply Soft in White and Black.

- White (approx. 24 yards / 13 grams)

- Black (approx. 22 yards / 12 grams)

US 9 / 5.5 mm circular needles

Tapestry needle for sewing

Elastic hair tie or headband to attach the bow to (optional)

Instructions

1) Cast on 44 stitches using white yarn.

2) Join in the round

3) Round 1-25: Follow the cow print chart.

4) Bind off using white yarn.

5) Sew both ends together (see images below).

6) Pinch the middle of the rectangle together along the shorter side to create the bow shape (see image below).

7) Cut a long piece of black yarn and wrap it around the bow approximately 10 times.

8) Attach the elastic hair tie or headband by threading the yarn through the band and also around the bow another 10 times. (This step is optional if you do not want to attach the bow to anything).

9) Secure the yarn by threading it under all of the rounds and tying it to the starting end of the piece of yarn. Then weave in ends (see image below).

Cow Print Colorwork Chart

Use either of the charts below to complete the pattern.

I recommend using the repeat chart because it is easier to see, but you can also use the larger chart if it works better for you.

Repeat Chart

This chart is designed to be knit in the round using two strands of yarn at the same time.

Cast on 44 stitches using white yarn and join in the round.

Repeat columns 1-22 two times each round to equal the 44-stitch cast-on length.

Continue working in rounds following the chart through row 25. Each row marks the beginning of a new round.
