The Chunky Cupcake no-sew crochet amigurumi pattern is a quick and easy crochet pattern using chunky yarn. No-sew crochet patterns are some of my favorites to make (and create). No sewing means fewer yarn ends to tuck in at the end, and we all know that's the worst part about crocheting! No-sew crochet usually means crocheting pieces together instead of sewing, or any additional pieces are crocheted directly onto other pieces of the pattern. For the Chunky Cupcake, the crochet cupcake is worked in one piece, and the ruffled frosting edging is crocheted on at the end. The only "sewing" involved is stitching on the sprinkles, but you could skip that step if you wanted to!

Finished Size
6 inches wide
6 inches tall
Materials
25 grams/27 yards of bulky weight yarn in white. I used Bernat Velvet in White.
22 grams/23 yards of bulky weight yarn. I used Bernat Velvet in Quiet Pink.
8.0mm crochet hook
12mm safety eyes (optional)
Stuffing
Instructions
In Pink Yarn:
Round 1: Make a Magic Ring and Sc 6 stitches in it. Slip stitch to join.
Round 2: Inc. in every stitch around [12]
Round 3: (Sc. Inc.) repeat 5 more times [18]
Round 4: (2 Sc. Inc.) repeat 5 more times [14]
Round 5: (3 Sc. Inc.) repeat 5 more times [30]
Round 6: Sc in the back loop only of every stitch around [30]
Rounds 7-13: Sc in every stitch around [30]
Insert safety eyes halfway between the bottom and top of the pink section (optional).
Begin stuffing as you go.
Switch to white yarn:
Round 14: Sc in the back loop only of every stitch around. [30]
Round 15: (3 Sc, Dec.) repeat 5 more times [24]
Round 16: Sc in every stitch around [24]
Round 17: (2 Sc, Dec.) repeat 5 more times [18]
Round 18: Sc in every stitch around [18]
Round 19: (Sc, Dec.) repeat 5 more times [12]
Round 20: Sc in every stitch around [12]
Round 21: Dec. in every stitch around [6]
Fasten off and sew up the opening.
Holding the cupcake upside down, insert the hook into any stitch in round 13 (the last pink round with the front loops showing.)
Ruffle: Work 3 Dc in every stitch around to create the ruffle of the frosting.
Slip stitch to the beginning of the round.
Fasten off
Embroider on sprinkles with pink yarn.
